July 4th camp craft: Tie-Dye

Every 4th of July, I am lucky enough to spend the long weekend with my entire extended family. This consists of about 40 people, including about a dozen kids under the age of 11. The kids get along extremely well and get to swim, fish, play in the sand, play games, etc. Last year I planned a craft for the kids, stamping t-shirts with fabric paint. This year Tie-Dye t-shirts.

Each kid brought their own shirt. I supplied 4 of these Tie-Dye kits. We actually only used 2 1/2 kits and made about 20 t-shirts.

The kits were great because they came with all the materials to tie and dye but it also included all different ideas and other tools to use - spray bottles, tape, lace & netting. The kids came up with some cool designs that reminded me of graffiti. Each shirt was very creative.

Here are our masterpieces. Didn't they do a nice job?
